Standing at the entryway to a major housing development in San Luis Obispo, this 17' monument is a highly visible landmark, in its own right, at the intersection of Los Osos Valley and Madonna Road.

Storyboard chronicles of the land's historical ownership over the past centuries and is designed in the mid-1900s architectural style of Charles and Henry Green. The side facing pedestrians and vehicles exiting the development illustrates nine periods in chronological order, with each period's owner shown in a representational icon. The base of the pedestal is surfaced with river rock and brick in a style reminiscent of Green and Green foundations.

The first icon represents the Irish Hills, visible behind the development, followed by the establishment of vegetation represented by the Live Oak tree. Next on the evolutionary chain representing life is the grizzly bear, Los Osos Valley“s namesake. Unique Chumash Native American pictographs fill the fourth level. The Mission Bell next represents the ownership by the Mission followed by the cattle brand of Captain John Wilson, a major figure in the county's history. After Captain Wilson's ownership the land passed to Harry and Margaret Foreman, noted by their cattle brand. R.J. Bullock was next followed by the most recent owner, the DeVauls, each represented by their family's cattle brand.
