This free-animation mobile acknowledges the endangered Chorro Creek Bog Thistle and celebrates the ever-present California Sycamore tree. The seasonal changes of these trees and thistles are expressed by a patina coating on the bronze sculpture. Towering some 30 feet above San Luis Obispo Creek, cantilevered off the Broad Street bridge in downtown San Luis Obispo, the piece enhances its unique urban environment. Each of the themed visual elements is gently persuaded by year-round afternoon breezes to pivot naturally in random motion within a 10-foot diameter. For easy viewing by pedestrians, an attractive plaque incorporated into the base provides a permanent commemoration in the artists own words.
